So you notice that I have a little countdown timer? Well... I am counting down the days until we go to Myrtle Beach!! YEAH!!! Not much has been going on in my world, just doing the norm, eating, sleeping, and eating. The weather here has been so nice! I have been enjoying digging in the dirt, playing fetch, and most of all... rolling in things! Mom isn't sure what I rolled in yesterday, but I rolled in something FUNKY. So funky, she had to give me TWO baths! I liked it though, you can't beat a good roll in something that is smelly, right? ---------------------------------------------------------------- I never finished showing you all the pics from mine and Chole's play date.

Well... all this stuff about the tainted dog food got me thinking. So I called to mom and pop, and they figured up all of this. http://www.dogexplorer.com/content/view/173/1/DogExplorer.com News - State officials in New York have detected a substance used both as a rat poison and anti-cancer drug, Aminopterin, in samples of suspect pet food. No explanation was given as to how the poison entered the food or when in the process the dog and cat foods became contaminated. Neither State nor Federal law enforcement agencies have indicated any criminal investigations are planned. According to Wikipedia, Aminopterin (4-aminopteroic acid) is a 4-amino analog of folic acid. It is a substance with properties that suppress the immune system (lower anti infection system strength in the body) and is commonly used in chemotherapy. In the same article, Wikipedia claims ABC News has reported wheat from China may have been contaminated with Aminopterin (used there as a rat poison) and wheat byproducts (wheat gluten) from those shipments may have been used in the production of the dog food and cat food suspected in the deaths of the nearly 1,000 pets in the United States. A statement issued by the New York Department of Agriculture confirms that scientists at the New York State Food Laboratory "…identified Aminopterin as a toxin present in cat food samples from Menu Foods, the manufacturer of the many brands of dog and cat food that are currently the subject of a nationwide recall." The statement claimed that Aminopterin was found in samples "…at a level of at least 40 parts per million." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AminopterinWikipedia says that Aminopterin is not approved for use as rat poison in Canada or the United States, and that it has a It has an lethal dose of 2.5mg/kg when orally administered to rats. Using metric numbers here guys... so just bear with me here! 20lbs = 9.07kg 9.07 x 2.5mg = 22.675mg So 22.675mg is a potentially lethal dose for a 20lb dog (this is assuming what is lethal for rats is the same for dogs). If we take that there are 40 parts per million of Aminopterin in the food... 2.2lbs = 1kg = 1000g 1000g / 1,000,000(parts) = 0.001g = 1 part 0.001 * 40 parts = 0.04g of Aminopterin per 1000g of food 0.04g = 40mg So there are 40mg of Aminopterin per 2.2lbs of food, or 20mg per 1.1lbs! So a lethal dose of this dog food could be between 1.1 - 2.2lbs for a 20lb dog. That's flippin' CRAZY! Labels: tainted dog food...

Whew!! It has been a long couple of days... where to begin... Well, we'll start off with Missy. She came here yesterday. Sammy did as well. Missy ain't as bad as I thought. She is cute, cuddly, and loves to wrestle around! I am a little miffed though, I feel all neglected... she's taking MY pats and rubs! What's up with that?! She is quite a handful, but on the other hand she sleeps alot, so I get to snuggle and love on mommy and daddy when she snoozes. I already have her playing chase, and she is catching onto fetch as well.

So I'm having fun with her. She's just too cute not to love! Some bad news too though. Yesterday Mom was walking Sam, Missy, and I, with Sam and I being off-leash. We walked by the neighbor's apartment, who has this little fiest that is about 3 or 4 years old. Her name is Ginger. Anyway, Ginger's human was letting her out to go tinkle, and She came up to say Hello to all of us. She went to sniff Sammy then BAM! Sammy attacked her out of the blue! This was no playing either. She was actually growling and and trying to bite Ginger! BAD BAD Sam! We know your old, and ornery, but come on... be nice! Mommy said that Sam isn't allowed to walk off leash anymore. Hey-- she made her bed, she can lie in it, right? Finally... I got one heck of a surprise today. My mommy told me a friend of hers is bringing someone to meet me. But who? This is who!! Chloe, a 1 and a 1/2 year old German Sheprador Retriever! She is the most awsome girl!! We played for a solid 3 hours straight... with little breaks. We had a blast. I hope she gets to come over again soon!! Well folks, I am very tired from my play-date, and I must sleep. Until...nex...ZzZzZzZ

Whew-- Mom about had a heart attack there! We couldn't remember the password or user name for our blogger account! She was about to flip her lid! Anywho-- onto the newest news in the Show Stopper's life. Mom will be dog-sitting again. Daddy's mother is bringing her dogs to visit us while she takes a trip to the beach. Mom will be watching a little puppy about 12 weeks old, named Missy, and a 13 year old named Samantha (AKA Sam). Sam is an alright dog. She is very calm... either calm or she is just too old to give a crap. When she stays here, she sleeps most of the time (typical for an older lady like her though!) and always stays in hiding, right by the vent in the living room. Cute little Lady, eh? I'm not sure if I'll like this new pup though... I have never met her before. Mom says she will be a big doggie. Her paws are already enormous at 12 weeks old. Mommy says I have to act like a big girl, so I can be a role model for the pup. I'm sure my Diva will shine through and through, and Missy will be a spoiled princess like me before it is over! I don't have any pics of her yet... Mommy says there will more of those to come a little bit later. Good thing though! Mommy said that since I am such a good girl, that I get to stay out of my crate the whole time they are here, so Sam can use mine. She still has accidents. Poor old lady!! The pup will have her own crate, and I'll have my place, either under Mommy's bed or on it, sleeping right in between her legs. Good stuff there!! Until next time, folks!

Well, yesterday was Perfect Tosca's birthday. She got lots of cool things from her mommy. I couldn't get her anything, then I got to thinking... what would Perfect Tosca want? Since we are so far from one another, it is a bit tough to think of something that will do the trick! Then it hit me! A perfect gift, for a Perfect Tosca, who LOVES to blog like me... A blog, dedicated to just her! Happy Birthday Tosca! Hope you had a perfect day, you're the only perfect collie I know deserves it ;) I hope you have enjoyed the toys, extra EXTRA love the crackpot has gave you, and most of all.... TREATS! You DID get extra special treats for your birthday, didn't you? Anyway, this high flying pupper snuff is sleepy. I think I'll annoy mom a little and waller all over her before going to sleep. She still smells like that little runt! Until next time, folks!

Well, I am officially a cousin. My Auntie Andie got a new puppy the other week. Her name is Ginger, and she is a Golden Retriever/Chow Mix. She is about 6-8 weeks old, and she is an annoying little runt. She kept biting MY face and hogging MY camera. How rude is that? Doesn't she know I am the Fluffer Pup Queen? Doesn't she know that camera is only supposed to take pics of ME? I guess not, because poopy-head Mom still took pics of her. Ok, so maybe she isn't THAT bad. We had fun outside. She couldn't keep up with my shortness though. I totally beat her in a race like 100 times! The sunny weather is back, but it is far from warm. Mother Nature, what did I do wrong? BRING THE WARMTH BACK!!!! Until next time....

After all this wonderful weather, it gets all rainy and crappy again. I have been enjoying the hell out of the warm weather, if you can't tell.

Mom has never seen me so tired, except when we went to the beach. I have played, rolled, fetched, wrestled, chased, dug and everything else that a doggie can't do when it snows.
Mom is very proud of me. I finally learned the "long stay" command. I sit as pretty as you please, then wait for mommy to call me out of it. She is tickled, she says I am one heck of a good dog!! YAY me!
Well, the time has come for me to take a rest. I'm hungry too... wonder if I can get mommy to make me a cheeseburger.....

Mommy said I was a smart cookie. Lookie what I figured out!! Yes, I can post pics! I also figured out how to make slide shows, and all sorts of cool stuff!
Mom decided it's time for me to have my very own blog! Lucky me!!! YAY!!
So... this is how this stuff works, eh? I have to figure out all the cool specs and such, but I think I can handle this!
Stay tuned, readers, there will be more!
